Podcast Episode 3: When Faith Becomes Legacy: Michele Batz on Grief, Grace, and Cory’s Project | Show Notes

Welcome back to the Faithfully Empowered Blog!

In Episode 3 of the Faithfully Empowered Podcast, I sat down with Michelle Batz, founder of Cory’s Project, a nonprofit born out of both unimaginable heartbreak and unwavering faith.

Michelle’s story is deeply personal for me as a childhood cancer survivor myself. Her son Cory was diagnosed at age six with an aggressive form of T-cell lymphoma. What followed was a roller coaster of hospital stays, near-losses, miraculous moments—and ultimately, Cory’s passing at just sixteen.

Yet from profound grief came a mission: to support families walking through pediatric cancer.

In This Episode, You’ll Hear:

Cory’s incredible faith as a young boy and how his courage inspired an entire community.

✅ The miraculous moment when Corey, against all odds, pulled out his own ventilator and woke up from life support—an event that left even veteran ICU nurses stunned.

✅ How Michelle and her husband turned their loss into hope by founding Cory’s Project, helping dozens of families with both Christmas gifts and ongoing financial support.

✅ Michelle’s message for anyone wrestling with grief:

“Yell at God if you need to. He can handle it. But trust that He can turn your tragedy into purpose.”

✅ Insights on how faith sustains us even through the darkest valleys—and why our stories don’t end here on earth.

Michelle’s faith and resilience shine through every word. From navigating devastating hospital moments to raising over $50,000 last year alone, Cory’s Project continues to be a testament to God’s provision and Michelle’s fierce love for her son.
